It falls on it's face when it's first started up. 200 1987

My 245 wagon has a nagging trait when first started until it warms up, then it runs good but not exceptional. I just put in a new cap, rotor button and plugs and took up the slack in the throttle cable. I have never cleaned the throttle body. It falls on it's face when first started up.Also I tried to turn the idle up a tad and it didn't seem to change. Could it be the temp. switch? Is there more than one temp. switch? Also , I have ruled out the pre-pump not running, it works.

Goober:

Cleaning the throttle body will help. Honest. I have an '87 245 too, and it used to do pretty much as you describe when I first bought it. Clean the throttle body, the IAC motor and adjust the TPS. Bet it'll help.
