Coolant Problems? Try a Meat Thermometer First 200 1979

I discovered a new way to measure coolant temperature with a simple meat thermometer. It's easy and costs nothing. Would someone tell me if this trick has been done before? I haven't heard of it until necessity made me think of it.

Unfortunately, I spent a lot of time and money on a new radiator, hoses and nearly a new pump and fan clutch before I figured it out. As it turned out, the defective part was the Voltage Stabilizer Ð an inexpensive part.

I have a candy thermometer in my tool box at all times just for that purpose.

I have a thermo thats used in making confections. Its nearly the same thing. Been using it for years. Also used to check thermotstat function, and temperature sensor operation. Welcome to the club.

Hello, I assume that everyone uses the common "meat ther." for checking on their air conditioning air discharge temperature; leave in in while driving around. Its also common to pull off upper most radiator small vent line to insert small thermo. for checking temp. against gauge. Be careful and don't burn yourself, etc. If its not common for everyone to use it should be. They make them with small stems, small head w/magnifier for the older crew!! Gary
