I hate oxygenated fuel.

I filled up in Lake Geneva for my last tankful. I had 1/4 tank left. Last night I filled up again. 293 miles on the tank of gas, and I put in:

10.03 gallons. Approx 50% city driving.

This isn't totally scientific, but it looks as if I got 29mpg on the last tank of gas. I've not touched any ignition parts or air filters, or ANYTHING, since I got this car... except all the fluids. If I was on the highway the whole time, I could conceivably get over 30.

With the usuall fill up, I get about 24-25mpg, similar driving and driving habits. I could really care less about mileage within reason, but I didn't know it could make such a profound difference. I go mountain biking in the country a lot, so it'll make it worth the while to buy gas while I'm there. Plus it'll offset the big Thule rack that I'm going to re-mount soon.

It is funny that a democrat, Jimmy Carter created the whole gasohol business and got it up and running great. Then a republican comes along and kills the program saying it was a waste of money, that we had plenty of gas. Then another republican comes along today, George Bush and wants to create a gasohol program saying we really need it!

Hheh got to love politics. BTW I am a republican most of the time.

Ya got it! Iowa's 7 electoral votes, Kansas's 6 electoral votes, Nebraska's 5 electoral votes. Novermber 2, 2004.

And the steel tariffs are thanks to Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. The "cloning ban" is because of the rest of the "bible belt" states where people actually believe evolution is a scientific theory with no supporting evidence.

GWB has probably written off Masssachusetts, Vemont, New York and New Jersey, so he needs pretty much everything else in between there and California to allow some margin of safety.

Gasohol still sucks, though.

Yep, let's "save the family farm" by taxing each and every non-corn-belt driver another ten cents a gallon for ethanol and also imposing a $160 billion farm welfare program on the rest of the country. Stalin was right: just shooting the kulaks may not be a bad idea. And I live in Iowa, where welfare mentality and economic parasitism are entrenched. I remember Reagan's story about the Chicago welfare queen with eight kids on AFDC and a Cadillac car. Fast forward to Iowa: want a new car, just buy another farm plot and wait for the government checks to roll in.

I like Gnat Town, Pennsylvania Sunoco gasoline! (Gnat Town 24.05 mpg, Nooo Yawk Citee suburb 21.84 mpg)

Same drive.

Well, of course! The oil companies sell us the stuff by volume, but use it by Calorie! (Like they're ever gonna complain about the awful calorie density of "oxygenated fuels?" Or our congressthings are ever going admit they understand this?)

That's why diesels get such great MPG!

Yeah, but think how much good you're doing for the environment when you burn it.

Oh yeah, I forgot about all the GOOD for the environment...like mtbe additive and water saving toilets that make you flush 10 times to take care of what 1 flush used to....Ah, the benefits!!!!
