My 84 244dl has the chrome grille with the Volvo badge off-center. I have seen other 84's with the black grille and centered logo. volvocars.com shows a 84 244dl with the black grille, and the 83 with the chrome grille. Is my grille from an 83, or did Volvo just slap on whatever they had lying around? lol
Anyone know the story?

i believe the black grill was a turbo thing along with black trim

According to the dealer, it's the turbo model that comes with the black grille (nmi)

Both my '84 242 and my '85 245 have a chrome grille.
