bypass dryer/rec. a.c. comp. works, low refrigerant right?

Hi all,

So my a.c. that I had converted to r134 2 years ago stopped working. When I had the conversion I was told there was a slight leak in compressor, I passed on compressor and a.c. worked fine for 2 years. The other day the compressor wasn't kicking in so I bypassed the dryer/receiver and it started working. This does mean the refrigerant is low right? I'd like to get a bit more out of this before I have to replace comp.

thanks

That should be correct, barring any problems with the low pressure switch. Since R134a is so cheap, even if it turns out not to be the problem, you're still out very little $.

Best of luck.
