1978 242 emissions air pump - stay or go? 200 1978

78 242 - B21A engine(carb).

The air pump seized up - is it important to replace it?

What tuning mods need to be done to optimize emissions/performance without it on?

Thanks in advance

Hi,
When my brother had a 75 245dl here in the US we removed the air pump and the
motor still easily passed emissions. The B20F in that car was injected. It may be a little harder with a carb but if the motor is freshly tuned up with a clean air filter it should pass. If you have a points ignition setup on the car upgrading
to the breakerless setup like on a B21F would improve the emmissions slightly.

Is the breakerless ignition system for a B21F any different than that on a B230F. I have a 1986 245 parts car with a B230F .
Idf the swap would fit I'd be interested.
