Rust in trunk? 900 1992

I recently found rust in the trunk(inside wall of spare tire well). Has anyone encountered this problem? If so what can be the cause and what did you use to resolve?

I occasionally got some water through the trunk lid seal on our 1990 740.

Regular cleaning of the seal, the drains, and the channels around the trunk has solved the problem. I also lubricate the seal with silicone spray.

I don't know if 940s are the same, but I have read posts about leaks around the tail light seals on 740s.

It can result from a gasket leak or from poor drainage through the rubber drains at the bottom. Try the latter: make sure no leaves clog them and that they are in place, preventing road spray from coming up from beneath. Check the cover over the fuel tank sending unit as well.

And use POR-15 for the repair.
