Crumbling Wiring! How Bad Can It Get! 200 1987

I have found a number of wires with crumbling insulation. It seems to be where the wires are exposed to the elements. Yet some wires are ok. Is it certain colored wired wires or gauge? Do you splice them back to good sections or rewire the whole car? Help!

Crumbling Wiring! How Bad Can It Get! 200 1987

    I have 86' 245 DL.
I had bad wirings to the oil pressure sensor and alternator.
Other wiring were OK in my case.
If only wiring to OPS/ALT is bad,try this.
I ordered and replaced a replacement wiring for the oil pressure sensor and alternator from ipd not whole engine wiring.
    It is easy to install.
    Everything is OK now.

    Good Luck

    Really Bad!!! 200 1987

Rip that mother out, marking all connections, and rewire it. Or dial up Dave Barton's web site. The URL is http://www.linkline.com/personal/dbarton/

He can sell you one cheaply.

You have the year for the biodegradable engine wiring harness. My 744Ti was so afflicted. I just bought a new harness and swapped it. It ran fine before, it still runs fine now.

200 series esp up to about 86 had that prob-call your local independent volvo repair and ask if they can recommend a person that can come out to you and replace the wires--I did-cost me $90--45 minutes-for my '84--no probs since. good luck.
