I am about to pull the trigger on purchasing a 95 940 turbo. The car is impeccable has 45,000 miles, has been well maintained(never driven in winter adn garaged) and is going for $10,000 which the owner won't budge on the price. The person who services my other two Volvo's(2000 S70GLTSE and 2001 V70) has twenty years experience in servicing Volvo's at a local dealership including service foreman for ten years. He is honest as the day is long and opened his own shop 6 months ago(half the price to service the car and better service too boot). This particular car is his cousins' and he indicated that if he were in the market for a car he himself would buy it. Although the price may be a bit high I have looked around for a 940 and can't find any with comparable miles care etc. I saw one the other day for $8,500 and it had 85,000 miles on it but there is not a lot of history with the car and two owners.
My question is what type of maintainence should I be looking to do immediately on the car and what should I look out for. I have heard that these run forever but am I paying exorbitantly too high a price for a car in this condition. Thanks for your insight as I am not mechanically inclined but take
very good care of my vehicles(oil changes every 3000 miles etc. etc.)
