200K Mile Adjustments 700 1989

My '89 740 just hit 200k and I am looking to treat her with some fixes and modifications and I would like some input. First, I replaced A/C compressor last year and still have problems. If I do a refit can I use same compressor and how much does it usually cost to convert A/C systems. Second, my parking brake cable(long) snapped the other day and want to know how difficult it is to replace. Third, I need to replace the long exhaust pipe, that is connected from manifold down exhaust to muffler, my parts guy has quoted me $200 for it, with gaskets. Is this reasonable? Fourth, drivers side front window does not close completely and I want to replace the window guide, inside door frame and under rearview mirror, can anyone tell me what the part is called and where I can get it? Thanks for any info.

Make sure the steering rack and front suspension is in good condition.
At two hundred thousand I would start replacing the bushings front and rear.
After 200k they are probably close to shot. Also if you have not replaced the front wheel bearings they are hitting their life expectancy. And lastly you may want to replace the voltage regulator and brush unit in the alternator. That is if you plan on keeping the car.

I think you can beat that price on the downpipe. Check www.fcpgroton.com.

    Best of luck.
