760 - did tune-up, idles rough, sounds like timing might be off 700 1986

OK, I finally got my 760 running again after changing the in-tank fuel pump, spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor. Now it idles rougher than it did before and doesn't rev up as smoothly. As far as I know, I did not touch anything to screw up the timing. It sounds like it is off slightly, and on moderate throttle it sounds like it is pinging. Gas is good, it's the remainder of the gas that I sucked out to change the fuel pump (put it in my mom's Civic and my dad's van, both run fine, so it's not bad gas).

Anything I should check? I certainly don't want to drive it while it is pinging.

Im sure you checked this but have you checked the gap on the spark plugs, if you bought then pre gapped really you must check them, last set i bought were way off and they were supposed to be pre gapped.

if it is pinging, sounds like the dist might have rotated while you changed everything out. This could happen if the bolts are not on tight. Also thing to check is the sensor (black plastic thingy with wires attached). It might not be seated properly under the dust cover.

I gapped the plugs myself before applying anti-seize and installing them. 28 to 30 thousandths is what I was told to gap them to.

I'll check to see if I rotated the distributor at all, I'm pretty sure I didn't but you never know. Thanks for the suggestions, anything else?
