Bought some Mintex pads and have no shims, should I use them without shims or use the ones from the old pads(Volvo), they are held with two rivets.

Use blue goop from indy auto parts...that's worked on my 740 and 240 cars with Mintex pads...hope the 900 is not too different.

I concur. I've got PBR pads (no shims) on my 960 and I just used that silicone anti-squeal goop. Works fine.
