Sunroof opens and closes ok. Just seems to need some lube as it shudders during operation. Any recomendations as to what type of lube to use? Is WD-40 ok to use on the tracks.

P.S As long as you're doing maintenance on the sunroof... taken the two screws out of the motor cover and check if the motor is securely screwed in. I checked all three of my bricks last week, the first two fine, the third - motor hanging by threads....

According to a Bently Manual for BMW they say to use petrolium jelly such as Vaseline. I have used this since and seems to work really well. I would clean everything up using WD-40, then apply light coat of Vaseline to all contact areas.

Mobil 1 Spray Lube or Superlube spray or grease.

White lithium grease is very good. You could loosen it up with WD or a penetrant/lube, then when it dries, apply the white lith for longevity. That's what I've done frequently in the past.
