connector on rear axle 700

hey muchachos

i searched the Haynes and the chiltons
could not find it in the archives either

regular rear axle - right side -
half way betwwn differential and springs is a connector on top of the axle
with a rubber hose going upwarrds attached

for what is this connectror?

If it is just a rubber hose then it is the vent tube for the rearend.

It's the speed sensor for your speedo~meter.
