940 turbo transmission - slips 900 1994

auto-transmission hards shifts between 1 + 2 gears, slips into overdrive sluggishly. Any suggestions other than the obvious?

adjust the kickdown cable. if its binding, not likely on a newer car, replace it. I'd also do a full tranny service w/ a flush if the no parts approach doesn't help. Most hard shifts we see are cause by a kickdown cable being out of adjustment, usually too tight. Don't go by the stop on the cable either, the cable streaches inside the sheath.

A hard 1-2 shift isn't unusual, but a slipping overdrive is problematic.
