Black Bumper Paint? 200

I just painted my 245Ti - it is silver, paint code 130. Four coats of color, six coats of clear - all acrylic lacquer, PPG Duracryl (now begins the color sanding and rubbing out part of the project). Need to paint bumbers to freshen them up - someone mentioned a product called "Forever Black" or similar named bumber paint. Where can I get that, locals are not familiar with it either. Otherwise I will just use the standard black bumber paint found at aftermarket/paint stores.

Thanks,

Jay

a tip (in the 700/900 FAQ) from those of us who don't like putting "shoe plish" (Forever Black) on our bumpers and other rubber or vinyl trim:

Rubber Trim Preservative. [Tip from Zee] For good rubber reconditioning (not mere cosmetic gloss) check into:
"Trim Re-Nu" by Auto Tech 1-800-545-8624
Silicone-free. Requires sun to activate it! Then it blocks UV damage. About $12-20 for a 8oz. bottle. Will treat two cars, because you use it sparingly. Should do great for under-hood rubber, too! Ask around at wholesale paint suppliers to the autobody trade. [Editor:] Try also 303 Aerospace Preservative at http://www.303-products.com

After all that work, I'd cry if my bumpers didn't get a brand new, fresh coat of bumper and trim paint. Use prep solution on the bumpers before you paint them. With 240 bumpers there is no need to buy ANY paint besides stock, off the shelf, black bumper and trim paint. It works wonders and lasts well.

Again, the key here is making sure they're prepped to perfection. Thereafter, enjoy how good the car looks. The PPG basecoat/clearcoat sounds like a great choice. I'm sure it looks beautiful.

Can you recommend anything to take care of the little nicks/divits in the bumber prior to painting? Can you use a bondo-type of product (would that stick to the bumper) and then wet sand?

Unfortunately, bondo and other body putties will not adhere to rubber, vinyl, plastic, etc. I have a few of those nicks in my bumpers, but don't know of a product that will fill and stay in place on the plastic. I don't believe that even fiberglass filler would work. That is why body shops always replace damaged bumpers on the newer cars, as opposed to trying to repair.

I bought some of the Mother's "Back to Black" at AutoZone. It worked okay but it might not be what you are looking for. It's only about 4 to 6 bucks though.
