Will a later 940 shifter fit a 740? 700 1990

I just got a new updated model automatic shift lever from ebay. Will this fit on the 740 or do I need to get the whole lower unit from a 93 or up 940?

I have been wanting to do this mod also but finding the part has not been easy for a good price. Let me know how it goes. It should look and feel great.
