Strut rod bushings 700 1991

I get a very bad shutter in the front end of my car while braking normal. If I have to brake hard it is not so apparent. I thought my discs were warped so I purchased new discs and pads at my local dealer the other day. Not to worry, I purchase wholesale as I own my company. Anyway, I was looking on the IPD website and noticed the strut rod poly bushing. I gave them a call and they were very helpful over the phone even though I was not ordering at the time. The gentleman told me that this may be the problem. I thanked him for the help and went outside to pull off the tire to look at my brakes. They look brand new. Pads are fine and disc does not seem to have any wear. I have only had the car for about six weeks so I checked the strut rod bushing. It is all cracked and looks worn but I cannot move it by hand. I would imaging that the 4000 pounds of my braking could though. Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it using the strut rod bushing? I did call IPD back and order the bushing in poly. I am also replacing the swaybar end ling bushings in poly to help stiffen things up out front.

Sounds like my problem on a 94 940. I replaced strutrod bushings with IPD polys but did not get rid of the shudders when braking at normal hwy speed. I have replaced rotors calipers and lines also. Now am looking at tranny and motor mounts...Check my postings on the 900's starting jun 20 or so ..and the many responses. This seems to be a common 700/900 problem and takes magic to cure !Good luck! also check brakes under FAQS

Common problem that shows up early or late depending on the condition of your roads and weather. See the 700/900 FAQ for instructions as to how to change these: quite easy.
