745 Conversion Project Website Open

Well, after a few requests for this post, we are announcing that we have uploaded a website detailing the stages for our conversion project. We are converting a normally aspirated (B230F) 1990-745 (with the Regina system and an AW70L) into a vehicle using a sleeved B230FT, LH2.4 Jetronic Bosch system, and an AW71. We have all the parts now, and we are going to start stripping out the NA components tomorrow. There is not really too much up there yet, but that will change later this weekend and next week. The link is:

http://www.maroon.com/iss/745conversion/

I plan on posting myriad images detailing the process, and once I can get a chance to do some real writing we will add some fairly verbose descriptions of the experience and the things we run into along the way. Just as a note, we plan on conducting stages 3-7 over the course of the next week and a half. The later stages may take longer. I will post when we update next.

Thanks!
Vos and Dick

PS: Yes, just buying a 745T would have been easier... But the complication is what makes it fun!

Absolutely! We got our fuel pumps earlier this week, and we picked up one of the starla OEM turbo spec exhausts a few weeks back. Talk about affordable, we used Rick at http://www.importpartsspec.com/shop/ for the exhaust. I know its not high performance...in the long run I would like to try the MVP system, but with all the other parts we had to get cost was a big issue...

The fuel pumps we got compliment of our accomplice up north who has lots of parts on hand and much better access to salvage yards than us. For some reason the most popular cars in our local yards are chevy pick-ups (well, Ok, I guess we are in Texas *grin*).

I must admit contributing to Gordon's delinquency. With Dick's help it shouldn't go too bad.

That's right! A significant majority of our parts were obtained from John, and we quite likely could not have done it without him :) Indeed, about the only things we did not get from John were the engine/turbo/intercooler... Most of the parts listed under the stage 3 page originated from John's garage.

Sounds like John's garage was about to collapse under the weight of all those parts. It's a good thing you have them now.

I can't wait for the updates.
