'pop' sound from front suspension 700 1989

I hear a 'pop' from the right front when turning to the left while reversing. Have recently replaced both ball joints and the driver's side outer tie rod end. The repair shop said the passenger's side's tie rod end was ok. Any thoughts?

My 88 740 wgn-with complete new front end has always made a small "clunk" noise with it's Bendix front brakes.when i am backing up and release brakes, apparently the small play the shoes have-they must shift-just slightly. pull your wheels off and look at all-won't hurt.my 2c,hope it helps.post back mark

The shop replaced the front brakes, and greased the pins the same day as the ball joints and tie rod ends. The 'pop' sound occurred before and also after the brake work.

It's not the sound of your steering linkage hitting mechanical stop is it?

I don't think so. The steering wheel is not a full lock when the 'pop' occurs, and it occurs only when reversing and turning to the left, it does not happen when reversing and turnng to the right.
