running on back two cylinders on 87 740 turbo 700 1987

I've checked for spark, spark plugs, spark plug wires, and i looked for oil in the coolant and I checked for coolant in oil. I couldn't find anything wrong besides the fact that the 1 and 2 cylinders are arent firing. Amazingly the engine still starts, it runs very poorly in low revs and smooths out in higher rpms(still misfires). If anyone has any ideas I sure would appreciate the advice. Thx for any replies

I would check the compression to rule out a blown head gasket. My gasket burned through between #2 and 3 with exactly your symptoms.

Good luck,

Henry

theres no compression in 1 and 2 but, good compression in 3 and 4, i suppose that means i need a new head gasket? Thx for the replies.

Yes, you need a new head gasket. Either that, or someone stole your #1 and #2 con rods and pistons.

Good luck. a head gasket is nothing to fear. It helps to have someone who has done one before, but it isn't too difficult.

Check the ballast resistor mounted on the drivers side inner fender panel. It's behind the battery. The injectors are fed in pairs through the resistor pack. Make sure the terminals and connections are clean. Let us know if you find the problem.
