Gas smell: injector seals? How to replace? 900 1995

My 95 960 w/ 93K has a gas smell from under the hood. This appeared after I cleaned the ground wire next to fuel injector 1. I suspect that the injector seal has gone bad. I actually saw a small pool of liquid at the injector that I assume was gas. It evaporated after a couple of minutes. The smell is mostly gone after twisting the injector slightly. What is the procedure for replacing the injector seals? Should I leave this up to a professional?

King Ringlee is referring to the plug at the leading edge of the fuel rail. Do what he says. Rule that out FIRST.

Then, if it just an injector seal, it's a piece of cake to change them all in one shot.

Be aware.... the 960 does NOT have it's own kit # for those seals. If the parts counter is half awake they will cross the application over to a re-seal kit for the 740 series. In this case you will get 3 little doo-dads in each bag. 1, (the seal itself) will be used, the remaining 2 pieces will be discarded. DO NOT attempt to force the new yellow tips onto your injectors. They won't fit and you will break something.

Keep in touch and we'll walk you through it. Also... try "www.importpartsspec.com" for ANYTHING you need before going to the dealer. Talk to Andy or Rick.

Possible injector seal, but see the FAQ immediately for information regarding fuel rail leakage, which is serious.

Wow!!! It is the plug in the end of the fuel rail! Boy that was close! Actually, when I opened the hood with the engine running there was a small explosion near the electric fan. I understand from a past post that this is fairly common. Is there any recall on these? I will be talking with Volvo of America about this one.

Thanks very much,
Steve
