headlight wobbles 200 1992

wondering why my headlights are so dull I had a first look to see that the metal reflectors supported at 3 corners on white plastic pegs are both hanging by 2 only, so are free to go badly misaligned. I suspect also a bad earth, coz switching Hi-Lo makes no difference to the left one. Does anyone know where the earth connection is for the headlight circuit? And these busted plastic pegs - one has its little shoulders busted off which are rattling round behind the glass. What's the drill with these? replace or re-engineer?
...and thanks to those who helped with my tailgate wires-in-the-hinges query a couple of days ago - it's good to know you're not alone!

When my rust bucket had the same problem, I adjusted the lens to the best I could get and secured it with a screw from the top, thru the metal. Again my rust bucket.

As far as I know all Aussie Volvo's have euro spec headlights..give thanks.. the US version has plastic front which goes cloudy over time, ours are nice thick glass. You would make some good money shipping 240 euro headlights over there, they seem to have problems getting them.
To your problem, The earths are (looking from front into engine bay) on the LH and RH fenders. The LH one is below the washer bottle, you will have to pull it out. the RH is on the bracket next to the battery there are 2 earths on the bracket mounting screws, one is turn sig and one headlight. There is another earth inside for the low beam relay on the floor near the shifter. I am not exactly sure on these but they are in the Bentley manual. (mine is at home) BTW low beam relay is in the dash somewhere.
Also sitting on this bracket next to battery is the high beam relay, you should hear it click, it is more likely you have a broken bulb if one side works on high beam, they both go through the same relay.
It is real easy to get the headlights out and appart, if the reflectors are dirty light intensity will be bad. I tried cleaning my reflectors (soap and water) but had little sucess, maybe brasso would help but be careful not to make them worse (try a corner). As for the pegs, mine are intact but look badly degraded. I would say replace these but I do not know if you can get the part or have to get a whole headlight. Try volvo for little post or try wrecker if you have to get whole headlight.
    Good luck
    Karl in Sydney.

I only wish it was as easy to ship the headlight lens back here. The problem that I have heard is that the right hand drive cars headlights are manufactured to diffuse the light for right hand drive only. Putting those on a left hand drive would be dangerous. So only left hand drive cars are suitable for swapping.
Shame, since I lived in Neutral Bay, relatives all over N. Sydney and western suburbs. Ah well would have been too easy. Good pluck.

        I live in Mosman.
I appreciate that RHD and LHD headlights may be different but I can not see on mine how. They can be adjusted up down and left to right, perhaps the pattern in the glass is different?
        Someone else may know.
        Beautiful weather here.

I think it is the pattern.
Wife once lived in Cremorne Pt, and Mosman. We want to move back some day. Wonderful part of the world.
          Lucky country indeed.

re.: <> I'm familiar with the lights installed on U.S.-bound 240 cars and the mounting pegs are external - if broken, they'd fall off the car - not inside the light. Are these Euro-spec. lights?

They are standard spec I think, not the US variant - a large plastic bucket, glass lens, metal reflector mounted on these pegs inside the big plastic bucket, and an H4 halogen bulb poked in the back. The problem is that these pegs seem to fail and leave the reflector able to move around on the remaining 2 corner pegs.
