1986 740T B230T still dies when put in reverse / drive 700 1986

Few weeks ago I reported a problem with my car which
is still unresolved. On the 1st drive of the day only, when
I put the car in either Reverse, or Drive, it will shut of and
die. It restarts immediately, and all is well for the rest of the
day. Also, occasionally if I have to brake hard, almost to
complete stop, car will briefly hesitate to get going.
Few seconds later all’s well.
Throttle body has been cleaned, it has new plugs and
wires. Fuel injector cleaner has been added to gas tank.
Timing is fine, and the car idles at 800 rpm.
What else should I check.

Suggestion:
Check your intake hose (from the t-body to the air cleaner) for any cracks, tears or breaks.
Check the rubber hose that runs from the top of the intake hose elbow right @ the t-body all the way through it's path for any as well. If this hose has a break, when the car is put in gear, the engine will twist to one side of the car causing this break to open & kill the engine.

Note:
If either of these turn out to be the problem, there's a good chance you need engine mounts (check the trans mount while you're @ it).

Good luck,
Frank

When i first got my car, it had the same problem. I tried everything to fix it. Suddenly, after a year of trying, it went away. Not sure what really did the trick but i will tell you what i did:

Cleaned throttle body (heavily, by removing it and soaking it in cleaner)
Cleaned flame trap, replaced the oil seperator, and cleaned all the hoses
Cleaned the IAC valve.
Adjusted the knob for the idle control on the bottom of the throttle

Try all of these. They might help. Best I can tell you so far.

Makes no sense logically. Would be easier to diagnose if it was a regular occurance (I.E. every time you braked hard or put car into gear during the day. At first guess it sounds like an electrical ground that gets jogged onto place after vehicle is in motion. When was the transmission last seviced / flushed. I'm stabbing in the dark, but I hope this helps.
