AC , anything I should consider first 200 1989

I haven't seen anything over the years but I'll ask anyway.

I'm, an open the window kind of guy so I never use the AC. I bet I probably used it for 1 hour total since I bought it in late '88.

I need new refigerant, the sight glass is empty. Before I get the kit for the new refrigerant, are Volvos known for having Evaporator issues or anything else that I should know before spending the money for a recharge?

Thanks

Do a search on recent posting under "A/C, 240, air, etc". There have been quite a few over the past few weeks - I rarely use my A/C and don't pay much attention to the system in general...
