ECU interchange 200 1986

My 86 200 has a 544 ecu in it and I bought a 554 by mistake. Is the 554 compatable or do I need to swap ecu's? Thanks.

The 554 is out of an '88 with LH2.2 and as such is very close. A Volvo technical bulletin discussing a slow speed stall in 86-87 wagons with AW70 tranny recommends the 554 as an upgrade for the 544. So try it. I have to say, I stuck a 554 in my 86 345 M46 and thought it ran funny so I pulled it. Maybe my test was flawed.

Thanks for the information. Since I'm trying to diagnose a poor running problem I think I'll swap the ecu and put in a 544 just in case.

I dunno what the 554 goes to, but it likely won't work in your 86.
