Turbo leaks oil ? 700 1988

My 88 tic wagon was idling poor when it was cold so I pulled the idle air control valve and found it was full of oil so I cleaned it out and the car idled fine. I pulled the intake hoses and found a thick film of oil so I pulled all the turbo and intake hoses and cleaned them out, drove the car and the oil returned. The car doesnt consume much oil, about a pint between changes every 2500 miles and it doesn't smoke. Could it be the intake side of my turbo seal is bad? The turbo works great should I just leave it alone or is there a way to replace this seal without tearing down the whole tubo?

Thanks for your help!! this site rulz

You may have some extra crankcase pressure, try replacing the oil trap and check all of the vaccume lines, especially the skinny ones they can clog easy and sometimes get mushy and suck closed. Also there is a plastic Y connector in between some of those hoses, that can get clogged. If you still get a good amount of oil( more than a film ), you may want to check into a turbo rebuild kit. It's about 100$ and will replace all the seals and bearings, if your handy you can do it yourself in less than a day. It will also help to prolong the life of your turbo.

If your turbo car only uses a pint of oil in 2500 miles, keep right on driving it. Your only comsumption is within normal limits. Many turbo cars use more in my experience.
