radio and fan died 200 1987

Hey Folks:

My stereo would not turn on this afternoon. I suspected a fuse, and was more convinced of this after I tried to turn on the fan. The fan did not work either. I am taking the car to my Volvo shop tomorrow to have the driver's seat re-built (new foam, webbing, etc), and so, when I go there I want to take some informed guesses with me about the stereo/fan glitch. Any ideas out there about why this happened? Please note: I am a pretty low car repair IQ. The car is an '87 244 GL with about 140K. Thanks.

TFS

the ignition switch on both of my 240s are starting to go. After starting the car I have to turn the switch back toward me just a hair to get all of the accessories to work!

Another good reason to read your IPD catalog. Ignition switch failure is commonly characterized by loss of fan and radio. It is a fiddly but doable repair if you are agile.

Same here..... so it is really the ignition switch.... yes, if i turn it a bit toward ignition OFF, i get the fan/radio/ blinkers back

Cheers
