Car stalling and finally starting after a 20 minute wait. 900 1991

Have a 91 turbo and was returning from vacation when my car dies. I noticed it stalled when the turbo kicked in when attempting to pass another car. Had to sit for about 20 minutes before it would start again. Got about 30 miles from my home and it stalls out again. I noticed when it did finally start, you couldn't give it any gas or it would stall again. When it would stall out and you tried to start it again, it would only run for about a second before it stall again. You had to let it set for awhile before it would start again. I've
owned eight volvos and this is the only one I've really had problems with.
I changed the fuel filter hoping this was the problem, but it wasn't. HELP!

Also, if the catalytic converter is loose internally, it can cause similar problems. After a long road trip is sometimes when that problem manifests itself. Adding boost only uses up the available space in the exhaust system before it can't push any more and then kills the engine.

Not THAT common but if you come up with a dead end on the other things, it could be the cause.

Hot stalling and no restart until cool may be the result of three common problem components. The fuel pump relay (in the tray behind the fuses)the radio noise supression relay (small black relay in the engine bay) or the power stage (held to a heat sink with two screws on the driver's side inner fender). It could be something else but I'd check these first ... starting with the fuel pump relay.Good luck.
