AC Clutch Update

All.

Good news, I was able to get the clutch to engage by the hot wire trick, it wouldn't fire by jumping the pressure switch. I did use a black light to try to find leaks but it was too dim. I am thinking it did leak out but before I pump anymore 134 in, I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks, Art

Umm..., I wouldn't run the compressor a lot that way if it's very low on refrigerant. You need to determine if it's building any pressure and pumping any Freon around. If the level is very low, then Freon isn't pumped through the system, and no lubricant gets circulated through the system. This isn't good for the compressor.

Did it get cold when you hot-wired it? If jumping the pressure switch didn't cause it to engage, then possibly it's NOT low on freon and the problem lies elsewhere??? Have you checked the fuse? I'm almost certain the fuse that engages the compressor clutch is separate from the one that drives the blower motor.

I had looked at my fuses and I didn't think I saw one for AC alone. Could be wrong. I did use an AC pressure guage by the pressure switch and got nothing.

You got nothing when you hot wired the compressor "on", or got nothing because the compressor ISN'T engaging?

Chris, I got nothing (no pressure with a guage) with the car off.

Don, I had been cautioned about running the compressor hot wired so ran it very little.
