Elvis is Dead, 200

And I don't feel so goodomyself. (Lewis Grizzard deceased. Author of many fine books and column writer for the Atlanta Journal). This has been some more week. Right in the middle of rebuilding the engine wiring harness on my son's 81 240, the sky started to fall. Taking him to work (life guard at the YMCA, some job for a guy starting his senior year in high school), and it began. Going down the mountain, I noticed a sudden vibration in the front of my trusty war wagon (85 245). At the bottom stop, the left front wheel was smoking (frozen caliper). By turning the car sharply right and left (while moving), I was able to free it, and drove back home using the parking brake (didn't want to freeze it again). I've got a spare caliper, but time is tight and my son's car is in my shop. That evening my wife came home (91 240) and added misery. It seems a truck that she was following threw up a rock and it cracked her windshield directly in front of her rear view mirror. Spider webs are already forming, so it wont be long till I have to replace it. A few thoughts and one question. Misery loves company, Murphy's Law, repairing a engine harness on a 81 240 is no picnic. Will a windshield from a 85 245 (parts car) wagon fit a 91 240 sedan? Thanks in advance for any reply.

Current wisdom seems to be that the later 91+ windshields will fit all
240s, so I can't really see any reason why the 85 wouldn't fit (but would
look ugly). Supposedly the 140 and 160 models used the same glass. The
trick is getting it out of the parts car without breaking it.

Won't your insurance cover the replacement windshield? Here in FL they do, without any deductable. Because though the '85 MAY fit (I know later fits earlier), the '91 is the flush fitting style, which seems to be preferred by other contributors to this board!
