turbo 900

When I bought my new brick, the seller said that I should drive so that the turbo needle stays in the white, not black. My question is: Was he trying to sell me a line?

Don't worry about whether you're in black or white. As long as you CAN BE IN THE WHITE, you are just fine. Remember, change your oil every 3k miles and let your car idle at least 30 seconds before shutting off to prolong turbocharger life.

Ok...if I remember correctly...white is boost, black is vacuum. He's basically telling you to keep the car on boost as much as possible. Basically, you'd have to accelerate hard all the time. What he might have meant was to try to keep the needle in the black, which increases fuel economy (no turbo boost). In the end, though, just drive like you normally would...

Sorry about that, white is black , and black is white in my post.

An analogy to his comment: Driving in the black all the time is like buying a video game system and never buying/playing any games on it. The turbo is what gives the car power. If you don't use it, the car is simply a useless machine in my opinion. Don't be afraid to use the turbo, it's there for a reason.

Ok, that makes more sense. He's telling you to stay out of the turbo. There's no mechanical reason (i.e. you're not going to break something) by using the turbo a lot, but you're not going to get the best gas mileage. The more you stay in the black, the better fuel economy you're going to get. The more you dip into the whoopee!!!! side, the worse your fuel economy will be.
