Question for Volvo guru(s) 700 1987

The car runs fine for perhaps 30 min. After that, it starts to get
spikes in rpm speed, noticeably at idle. With foot off accelerator
it will often shut off. No, the idle is not too low. It’s around 800 rpm.
I suspect some electrical component is overheated. But, which one.
All of the “usual” suspects have been checked, or replaced.
All the hoses appear O.K. No signs of wiring problems.
Unless I can fix this, I’ll be looking far East for my next car…
By the way, car is 740T with B230 4 cyl.

    spikes in rpm at idle are almost surely the aic motor.

    shutting off with foot off accelerator is almost surely a dirty throttle body.

    Another problem with the 87 turbos was/is the wiring harness to the engine...if the wires to your injectors, grounds, other wires to coils are insulation-challenged (the plastic stuff is gone or flaking off and you can see copper wire strands) you most likely need to replace one or more of the engine harnesses.

    While we wait for a genuine guru, I'll muddy the waters with drivel.

    "All of the 'usual' suspects have been checked, or replaced..."

    OK, so we won't talk about relays, sensors, switches, pumps, grounds, or connectors.
