I need to replace the exhaust system from the cat back on a 91 740. All the systems I see on line are Starla, which I gather from other posts, is a Walker system in disguise. Nothing against Walker but does anyone have a source for a Volvo system on line? I could go through my local dealer I guess but I try an avoid him unless absolutely necessary as he is outrageous on about everything $$wise. I guess secular humanists would call him just a good businessman but the Bible calls those who steal from others thieves.

    If you want to get 10 years + from your exhaust system - stick to Volvo's exhaust system. Thicker pipe, multilayered silencers - excellent quality and thats why it lasts -- but the price is hard to swallow. After you've replaced the aftermarket performance brands a few times due to corrossion, the volvo price won't seem so bad after all and its easy to do yourself.

    From experience.

    PS: the stainless steel system seem perfect, but beware that a thin guage cheap stainless system is not the answer.

    Call Rick at IPS 900 897 7278. Believe that Starla is OEM stuff and I have used it for year with no problems. He may be able to explain it all.

    You can get a cat back OE system from Barton Volvo or Swedish Engineering for around $200

    Or.

    You could upgrade and get IPD 2.5 inch Sport Exhaust for a little less than $300.

    I got IPD 2.5 inch Sport Exhaust three months ago. It a easy DIY job. A little louder than OE but not too much.

    If you're going to keep the car more than a couple years I'd install a stainless steel catback exhaust.

    Next time I have to mess with my 740T it's going to a 3" turbo-back stainless exhaust with hi-flow cat.
