Auto-trans leak onto exhaust... smokin. 200 1986

Bricksters,
Is it best to repair (hose clamp on some rubber tubing) or replace the auto trans cooler line that is leaking onto my exhaust... cough cough.

    Karl,

If line is under any significant pressure you might want to move quickly on repair. If auto trans fluid (or almost any other engine fluid) is atomized under pressure and lands on hot exhaust, it can burn.

Best repair is to replace the lines. They are available at the dealer. As I recall, they run about $35ish. Splicing with hose works too.

The parts guy at my local shop couldn't even find a part number in the Volvo catalog for those lines. So he redid them w/ some hose, and so far, so good.
    Worked for me fine.

    Hope this helps
