Quick ?, can 740 tranny go in 240 car..... 200

I've got a 89 240 that kind of slips into reverse, takes a few seconds to engage and kind of bangs in. Also have a dead 760 tubo with a good tranny. Seems to me the tailshaft has to be swapped. Is that right? does anyone know the preocedure to swap these two trannys. All help appreciated. TIA Tom 240aholic

Remove the single bolt holding the output flange. Swap flanges (I would replace the seal while it's apart) and reinstall the bolt. Don't have to swap the tail shaft, just the flange.
