DIY Window tinting for Volvos

Last week after vandals broke the driver's side window of my wife's 740 and ripped off only the CD faceplate, I replaced the window with a junkyard one and applied tint/film on the inside of the window. This film is needed here in South Texas to keep out sunlight and help the AC keep the car cool.
The film glues to the inside of the window and after 3 days the top edge may be rolled down below the rubber lips at the bottom of the glass. No problema.
Of course, professional installation is best ($100 for a new installation) but DIY can be done for $5 per window if you are not looking for show-stopping quality.
Anybody north of the Mason/Dixon line use this stuff?
Take care,
el Raidman

Thanks raidman all good stuff,

just to confirm, this is stuff on a roll that you (i think) wet the window first and apply from the roll?

when applying (on windows that roll down) presumably you start with the window rolled down a tad..so you can apply to the top...then roll window up and apply as far down as you can get..stopping just short of the rubber lips? (or do you remove the lips and apply bellow them?

Kick:
You are correct...in a roll. Lighter tint for front windows, darker for rear.
Wet window (see instructions inside roll), apply and use a squeegee. Tips: roll window down a tiny bit to apply almost to top edge., use a credit card to push the film under the rubber lip at the bottom. Use a new razor blade for each window.
Take your time, have a friend help you handle large pieces of film. Do the rear window in layers to compensate for the curve.
Good luck,
el Raidman.
