Just thought I would post this for any and all...
Over the past few months, I've made some posts related to electrical aberrations in my '94 945T. Between the overdrive engaging/disengaging by itself, the horn sounding like a sick pigeon, headlights dropping dead, and the entire electrical system dancing to the beat of the directional signals, I decided it was time to break out the soldering iron and get to work on the relays. I cannot say for sure whether there were any bad solder joints but I reflowed ALL of them. I also took apart the relays themselves and found many showing signs of arcing (especially the overdrive & headlight relays) so I ground/filed the contacts smooth. I found the headlight relay socket had melted around one of the connectors thereby not allowing full engagement of said connector which, I am sure, lead to even more heat generation.
Anyway, since the maintenance, I haven't had a bit of trouble with the car's electrical systems, except the horn now sounds like a duck with laryngitis. I guess I'll look for a new one of those...
