OBD questions 760 Turbo 700 1987

Ok, I know that theoretically, I'm not supposed to have the OBD box in my '87 760 Turbo, but somehow I have an Airbag, ABS (according to the dashboard light) and a Check Engine light that it would seem should necessitate such a tool. If I really don't have an OBD Box in my car, how do I read the fault code for the ABS light that's lit on the dash board? Is it possible that someone put a steering wheel and instrument cluster that really weren't offered on the 87's? According to Autotrader.com, ABS and SRS were not offered on that model so I'm wondering if I just got screwed or if I have a weird, late-model year crossover. HELP!

Early ABS systems were not tied to OBD. ABS diagnostics are carried out using a service manual and DVOM. There are no faault codes to read. Early SRS diagnostics are done by grounding the SRS test point in the fuse bok and counting warning lamp flashes.

ABS questions 760 Turbo 700 1987

*BIG sigh of relief!* That makes me feel a LOT better, thank you! Two more questions, now. What is a DVOM and are there other places than the dealer to buy the ABS service manual. Thanks!!

Unless someone has converted your car to LH 2.4 Jetronic (assuming that you have a North American market car), you do not have OBD. OBD came with the LH 2.4 Jetronic introduced on the 1989 NA cars, and the 1990 turbo cars (North American market cars).
