Exaust manifold problems on install:-( Help!! only one more day! 700

Hey Bricksters,

I got all the nuts off without that much trouble. Now how in gods name do you get the manifold off of the stud? The studs stick out about 1.5 inches and there is not that much play... Do I actually have to remove the turbo and manifold??? Help!!

Thanks to anyone who responds
Paul

Hey Bricksters,

THanks too all that have responded. I ended up putting the car back together last night. It went back together just fine, I still have that annoying noise. I will have to tackle it next week. Thanks for all your support and quick responces. At least next time I pretty much know what I am doing!:-)

Thanks again
Paul

Disconnect the bellhousing support bracket to the exhaust and the turbo bracket under the manifold. It's quick and easy--takes only a few minutes.

You will have to release the transmission bracket from the down pipe (and maybe the down pipe at the rear and if you need another inch you can use a bottle jack from the inner fender to the head to ease the engine over to the driver's side.

Do you have the support bracket underneath removed? It bolts to the block and the underside of the manifold. Once the bracket and oil/coolant lines are disconected, the manifold and turbo should slip off. If you're just replacing the manifold gaskets, it will slip out far enough to replace them without completely removing it from the car.
