240 CPR replacement? 200 1982

Friends -

I have an '82 240 GL wagon that, my mechanic tells me, needs a new Control Pressure Regulator. He's a nice guy (Neil Becker in Durham, NC) and says I can do this myself - take out the old one, put in the new one.

Trouble is, my Haynes manual doesn't address this issue at all. I'm not even sure what the CPR looks like, or where it is located.

If anyone has a photo online, or even a good description of where the CPR is located and how to replace it, I'd appreciate any tips.

Thanks! This has been my primary car for 380,000 miles and I have no plans to replace it.

It's located at and attatched to the front/left side of the block, beneath the intake manifold. If you check the boards archives, you'll find more info, including an article about rebuilding existing one, which may be a wiser alternative to a salvaged part. If I feel motivated, I'll snap a dig pic and post it later. Better yet, ask your mechanic to show you and give you a quick "walk" through the procedure.

Regards, Duncan
