Onverting A/C Refrigerant 700 1989

Excuse me for my lack of knowledge but I am having the hardest time trying to figure out how to convert the refrigerant in my 1989 760 Turbo from R12 to R134. I got the conversion kit but the instructions are in Latin and I am too stupid to figure out. My manual doesn't help either. There are two valves on the receiver/dryer (???) but where does what go. Sorry but it's frustrating.

Thanks

Now that you have the instructions it should be easier. I also did this job recently on my 1988. One schraeder valve will be for the pressure switch and the other will be unused. I actually used that "unused" fitting to vacume and refill the system rather than use the new R134 port.

My conversion worked better than expected, low 40's at the vent with ambient in the low 90's. This after driving for about 10 minutes.

Good Luck!

How did you determine how much r134a to use, and how did you measure it?

There is a link in the 700/900 FAQ. http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/VolvoR134Conversion/R134ConversionPage1.htm I performed the conversion earlier this summer and found these instructions invaluable. One thing confused me though, I removed the compressor to drain the old oil out, but there was no oil in the compressor. I also blew out the rest of the system. There was lots of oil in the condensor and evaporator.

Good luck,
Bruce
