vacuum connection for B21ft cruise control 200

I am just trying to get the cruise working on my old beater. The car was no where near original when I got it so I just want to make sure the connection was right. It is plugged directly into the intake via the line for the vacuum resevoir in the dash? This does not make sense to me becuase wouldn't there be a problem when the intake was under positive pressure. The cruise has other problems I have not tracked down yet. I only just found the right throttle cable for it from the junkyard that goes with the B23 intake manifold.

Jessie, the vacuum line on mine goes to the vac. cannister--then the intake of the canister comes directly from an intake port-- looks like its got a one way valve in it.

That sounds really different from the way mine was. I am not sure what you mean by the vacuum canister? Do you mean the actuator for the cruise control? And there is a one way valve in the line to the cruise control? That would make sense but mine does not have one. I have the cruise control plugged into the vacuum line for the resevoir in the dash but before the one way valve. Thats the way is was when I got the car. I got the cruise working actually, but I have not had it going while the turbo was boosting (like up a steep hill).

Jessie My 83 has one vacuum line from the under hood control to a can mounted to the driver's side fender well. the input vacuum (to the intake port on the can) runs from the intake manifold. Do I need to look under the dash?

Let me know.
Danny

Thanks for all of the trouble. No you should not have to look under the dash. So it sounds like your car has a vacuum resevoir for the cruise control which would make a lot of sense. I have never seen a resevoir in any of the service manual diagrams. Is the can on the firewall white plastic? The only cruise control parts I have under the hood are the actuator and the mercury switch. No resevoir or valve. I wonder if I am missing something or it is just a year difference. I have an 84 intercooled turbo, but you would not think that the cruise would be different. I tried to upload a photo of my engine bay but I can't make the file small enough. I have my camera set on the lowest quality possible and the file still comes out too big.
