Warning Light??? 900

Recently got my 940 and would like to know what the orange arrow on the dash means. It comes on with all the other warning lights and 99% of the time goes out after ingnition. Sometimes it stays on for awhile or does not come back on next time I start.

What does it mean?

Sam

That is the overdrive lockout light. The OD relay is operated by the push button on the side of the shift selector. If the light is turning on and off independently of the the push button, you probably need to re-solder the OD relay. I have experienced and repaired this problem on a friend's 1992 940T.

Aha,

Probably me playing with the OD lockout switch. Wonder what that was too. BTW-Can you suggest a good place to get an owners manual as well as a repair manual, something like a bentleys, prefer not to use chiltons as they are usually detailed enough.

Thanks.

My 95 945 has a flush OD lockout button on the back of the shifter.
The best source of “how to info” is from the good folks at this board and in the FAQ at this site. There is a British Hanes manual (given about a C rating) with the steering wheel not on the left side, but the “wrong” side, (sorry old chaps), $20-$30, available at any online Volvo parts shop and ebay. Order it from IPD.com and you can start receiving their “common” parts catalog and mailings. They are an only supplier of some after market performance parts. Some folks at this site have what they call the Volvo “Green Manual” available at volvocars.com/lit/. I have not had the time to sort out what I would like to buy and they are not cheap.
