Need a good recommendation.......... 1994

Looking for a good Volvo for my teenage daughter.
Reliable; dependable; economic; good looking; etc.

Can anyone recommend a particular model 1993-1995?

Thanks in advance.

1993: 240, 940
1994: 940
1995: 940

Not the most economical cars but still better than most if you look at the big picture with all expenses factored.

940 for this period 1994

Have had two - utterly reliable. Turbo OK if she's a responsible driver, but the normally aspirated engine has pretty good pop for a meager 114hp (how did Volvo do it?). The turbo comes with beefier suspension and brake components. Feels more solid up front.

My turbo ran to 165K before I sold it, and the 92 normally aspirated is at 172K and well on the way to 250K or more. We change oil, tires, brakes, and occasionally the exhaust system.

Both are 4cyl engines.

The FWD 850 also available, but are new models (US introduction 1993) and somewhat trouble prone, though better appointed and the 5cyl engine is more powerful.

92,93 240. 94 and up 940?/960. The 900 series is more luxurious and powerful and the 240 is a sure bet for reliability and safety. I like power for safety but for a new driver the low power, reliability of the 240 would be a safety factor. The 240 would be better on the wallet for maintenance.
