possible timing belt 'skipped'-how can I tell? 200 1982

My electrical test verified that the tank pump is good. But I have a feeling that the timing belt skipped a notch or two given the fact that the car acts like the timing is off. What is a quick check to see if the timing belt is skipped? It is about 50K miles since I last changed it (car has 150K)& I have all the parts to do it any how (belt & seals).

The timing belt should be changed every 40K. I did let one go to 50K as when I changed it at 40K the belt still looked good. At 50K the belt had so many cracks in it that I decided not to let it go that long again.

Take off the timing gear cover and the distributor cap and see if the timing marks on the cam gear match up with the crankshaft pulley. If the belt is tight then I would doubt that the belt skipped.

Look at the 700/900 FAQ. Same engine, different car. Info there on alignment issues.
