Parking Brake - Broken Cable 900 1991

I have a '91 - 960. The Parking Brake Cable appears to have broken. It is hard to see anything underneath the vehicle. I don't know where to start! Any help on where to access the cable or hints on this problem would be appreciated.

I had the same problem. I removed the console inside the car. I removed the astray and got the screws out. Took out the screws under the middle glove box and also the screws under the handbrake. Got to see that the cable broke right off the lever. The part cost $65. at volvoparts.com at the dealer its like twice that price. To replace, go under the car and remove the propeller. The brake cable is over the propeller. Dont ask me why, its a stupid design. It took me 4 hours to replace. The archives helped out a lot.
