Racing a B230 Engine

I have a 4 cylinder Sprint Car, an open wheel, dirt oval track race car and race with the Washinton Sprint 100s. The car seats one, the frame is chrome moly tubing, the car has a top wing to hold it into the corners and is intended to only go fast and turn left. Our current rules call for near stock 1600cc engines with two 40mm carbs for intake. The exisitng engine is a Nissan/Datsun L-16. Next year the rules are likely to change to allow either 4 valve 2000cc or two valve 2400 cc engines. I have a Volvo 745GLE and love the engine. My race partner'S and my first response was to build a Godzilla 2400cc Datsun engine out of several different engine components. Just for fun, I plugged the Volvo numbers into the computer and found similar results to the Datsun, without having to build anything. my question is: does anyone out there have any experience racing this engine? Are there stock performance parts available? Our rules call for stock block, crank, rods, pistons, no port or polish on heads, no larger valves in heads, any head of the same manufacturer that will fit is allowed, any cam and spring modification is allowed, compression may be raised by milling heads, any manifolds are allowed, and up to two 40mm carburators for intake. It is also a possibiltiy that EFI will be OK with a 50mm restrictor plate. What I am especilly intersted in is camshaft specs and valve springs. Perhaps some Ford or Chevy springs will fit. Also does anyone know how far this engine will rev reliably. The L-16 will go up to 9K without trouble. I know some people consider the B23 to be a better engine with bigger bearings, but the B230 still has bigger journals than the Nissans and they just don't give trouble. Hope someone out here knows. I am hoping to use the Volvo, if nothing else than the shock value of the name, a VOLVO, in Sprint Car. Jim
