Water in the floorboard! 200 1989

I have been getting a lot of water onto the drivers side floorboards, both front and back. I sealed the hole where the wires run in from the firewall, and that stopped the leaking in the front and there is no water in the back. But as soon as I park on an incline, there is a tremendous amount of water in the back, but not the front.

Anyone have any ideas? Windows seals? if so, where?

Thanks

I fought this problem for months. I finally cleaned out the A/C evaporator drain and the floor has stayed dry. I did have other previous leaks. Go to
www.volvo2.homestead.com for some tips. Later, Paul

Where is the AC evaporator drain?

Take off the right side panel from the central control panel. Look in to the left, behind the lower radio box. You should see the vacuum reservoir, three white plastic spheres.

Just in from of that is the drain - a black hose with a dog-leg shape. Hose top hooks onto a short nipple on the airbox bottom. The bottom has a flange and fits through the floor pan just above the trans.

Do not disconnect the hose until you are ready to soak up whatever water and glop that might come rushing out.

I have looked through a hose, squeezed it, waved it around, shooken it, and still had more glop come out when I washed out in the sink. Out of sight of wife.

The bottom has a sort of slit that's to keep creatures from taking up residence in there. It also allows glop to plug up the works. Clip the bottom a little.

Put a few drops of ATF on the bottom and in the top to make the hose slip into place easier.

        Good Luck,

        Bob

WIndshield seal is not uncommon for leaks.
Also make sure the drains in the bottoms of the doors are not plugged up. They get dirt plugging them up. One in front and back of each door.
    Door jamb seals.
Trunk seals on sedan, hatch seals on wagon.
Airbox drains, including A/C condensate drain at firewall
Sunroof drains on sunroof cars. (Myth: sunroofs seal out water. Fact: sunroofs drain GALLONS of water down the 4 corners of the car through plastic drain tubing.) They plug up with dirt, twigs, squirrels, etc.
    Antenna mounting hole?
Homemade door jamb penetrations - added speaker wires, power locks, alarm systems?
The old garden hose test works wonders.
And pull out your carpets and pads to dry NOW before they stink! you will kick yourself if you let it get all mildewed.
