I don't know of anyone in New Haven, but if you're willing to travel down the coast about 30-35 minutes I can recommend a great guy in East Norwalk.

Peter is a PHENOMENAL mech, extremely honest, and has a great reputation. It's a one man indy volvo shop (all models) that is very popular (backlog can be two weeks if its crowded). Basically the best mechanic I've used to date.

Mention Rick Tilghman sent you by, he's pretty familiar with me at this point. ;)

I'm afraid I don't personally know any shops that far west, but three that do an EXCELLENT job just a bit east of you:

1) Eurocars Plus, Groton, 860-444-2001 (Exit 86) www.eurocarsplus.com

2) Autowerkes, New London 860-443-1066 (Exit 83) www.theautowerkes.com

3) European Auto, East Lyme 860-739-.... (Exit 71)

All do just Volvos, and do them very well. My personal association is with Eurocars Plus, but I respect the work of all three shops and would trust any of them with my cars. Sorry I don't have the ## for European Auto handy. We had a good number of customers come to us from New Haven and even farther away. :)

Eastern Connecticut.... where Volvos are EVERYWHERE!
